EVENT PREVIEW| WA STATE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021

The pinnacle of the Go For 2&5 Track and Field Season is here with the WA State Track and Field Championships set for this weekend. The three-day Championships will see more than 500 athletes strive for a 2021 State Title at the WA Athletics Stadium.

AUSTRALIAN LITTLE ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS CANCELLATION

Coles Little Athletics Australia, in conjunction with the Little Athletics Member Associations have announced the cancellation of the 2021 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC). Athletics West will still announce a 2021 ALAC State Team following the WA Little Athletics State Championships.

UPDATE ON THE 2020-21 GO FOR 2&5 TRACK AND FIELD CALENDAR

We are pleased to announce, pending confirmation of zero new community cases before 12:01 am 14 February 2021, we will host an additional Go For 2&5 Competition on the morning of Sunday the 14th of February. We are working closely with Venues West, as well as State Government, to ensure the event will be in compliance with all venue, state and local government requirements.

The Western Australian Government announced a plan to transition out of lockdown for Perth, Peel and the South West on Thursday 4 February, pending a return of zero reported cases of Covid-19 through community transmission. To assist our Clubs/Centres, Members and stakeholders in preparing for the week ahead, Athletics West will implement the following.

ELITE POLE VAULTERS SET TO SOAR IN BUNBURY AT THE WA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

This weekend will see the 2021 WA Country Championships contested at the Bunbury Regional Athletics Arena, with the support of the City of Bunbury and the Bunbury Little Athletics Centre. The event will also play host to the inaugural regional Go for 2&5 competition, headlined by a class field in the Pole Vault through the support of the Western Australian Institute of Sport Pole Vault program.

2020 has been a year unlike any other. The WA Government has taken a cautious yet careful approach to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. This approach has enabled us all to transition back to our everyday life with minimal impact and restrictions. WA STATE HALF MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIP

The WA State Half Marathon Championship was held on the 8 November in partnership with the West Australian Marathon Club (WAMC) asÂ part of the Fremantle Running Festival. The Festival, managed and conducted by the WAMCÂ returnedÂ to the heart of the Fremantle CBD, starting and finishing on Fremantleâ€™s cafe strip. The Championship race was hotly contested, with a field of approximately 1,000 half marathoners, making the eventÂ the biggest Fremantle Running FestivalÂ in its 36 year history.

After three days of fierce competition at the Go For 2&5 WA All Schools Championships, 203 Athletes from 89 WA High Schools have been selected in the 2020 WA State All Schools Team.

NEW RECORDS FOR THE STATE 10,000m CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first WA State Championship of the 2020-21 season has been held and did not disappoint with five records falling.Â Capping off the third program of the 2020-21 Go For 2&5 Track and Field season, the 10,000m Championship saw 17 athletes battle it out.
