2024/25 SEASON AGE GROUPS
BIBS AND AGE TAGS
All Little Athletics Members (new and returning) will receive a new number and a new season bib for 2024/25. There will be no age tags this season. Athletes are to write their age on their bib in the space provide in the top right-hand corner.
Athletics West has pre-determined an allocation of bibs per centre and will allocate numbers once your centre has completed affiliation. Athletics West will advise when bibs are available for collection/postage as new stock is on order. We anticipate delivery by mid-September.
Senior Members will be able to start collecting their 2024/25 season bibs from the Athletics West Office, located at the WA Athletics Stadium. Bib collection will be available during office hours (9am – 4pm), Monday – Friday. Collection dates will be announced soon.
Athletes who are not able to collect their bibs during the allocated time, will be able to instead collect their bibs from TIC on their first night of competition, as per previous seasons.
10 SEASON COMMEMORATIVE BADGE FOR SENIOR ATHLETES
Athletics West is excited to announce a new initiative, to acknowledge senior athletes who have competed as a WA Athlete for over 10 seasons at Strive. Athletes will now be able to claim a 10-season commemorative badge to display on their bib.
This can be claimed by members who are commencing their 10th Strive season or have already completed 10 seasons as a senior athletics member in WA. Members are encouraged to iron the token onto their bib or uniform to allow this achievement to be easily recognised within the WA Athletics community.
UNIFORM REGULATIONS
COME AND TRY
- Each athlete is allowed two training sessions and one competition day before they decide whether to fully register. This is covered under insurance policy so long as you keep records.
- Families should only complete a full registration if they are registering for the full season.
- It is recommended that Centres hold a “Come and Try” day for new athletes at the start of the season.
- A “Come and Try” online registration or paper form must be completed to ensure you have the athlete’s details and they are covered by insurance.
- Online Come and Try registrations (if enabled by your Centre) will be valid for 14 days. After this period, the family will see a message in ResultsHQ asking whether they wish to complete a full registration.
- Centres should provide clear information to families, to ensure they know what they are signing up for, whether it be a “Come & Try”, full registration or another program.
- Once athletes have completed a full registration, they may only be refunded by Athletics West under certain circumstances (see the Little Athletics program Refund Policy).
CLUB AND CENTER INSURANCE
As part of your affiliation with Athletics West, your Centre/Club, officials, volunteers, and members are covered under the Athletics West Insurance Program that is arranged via our Insurance Brokers, Gow Gates.
The insurance program includes a range of policies and is only validated once Athletics West receives payment of your affiliation or membership fees.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Centres and Clubs are required to comply with WA legislation including The Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004. This means Centre administrators have responsibilities including to identify all those involved at their organisation in scope for a WWC card. Most of the time volunteers are parents and exempt.
- A register must be kept including WWC status of all volunteers.
- WWC card information collected at affiliation and can be uploaded at registration.
- Volunteering includes coaching, officiating, assistance at training and participation in parent rosters.
Reforms to strengthen the Working with Children Check came into effect in July 2023. The Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 is now known as the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004.
The main changes that will impact your centre include:
- ensuring people who have been denied a WWC Card cannot access exemptions for parent and child volunteers.
- Requiring WWC cardholders and applicants to notify the WWC Screening Unit of a change in name, residential address, contact details and child-related work status.
What does this mean for people with an existing WWC card?
The only difference for existing WWC cardholders is that they need to notify the WWC Screening Unit of a change in their name, address or contact details or their child-related work status. This is a simple process that can be done online or in writing by using an approved form.
If your name, address and contact details or child-related work status remain unchanged, you don’t need to do anything.
What does this mean for your Centre?
The main change for organisations relates to the changes to child and parent volunteer exemptions.
It is the responsibility of an individual who uses the child or parent volunteer exemption to ensure they are eligible to access these exemptions, however, organisations are encouraged to inform their volunteers of this change.
To manage the risk, it is recommended that organisations include a process for child and parent volunteers to acknowledge they understand the new laws and confirm that they are eligible to access the child or parent exemption. This has been done by Athletics West, by updating the registration terms and conditions in ResultsHQ and by adding an additional question allowing parents to acknowledge and understand new requirements.
GO FOR 2&5 CLUB AND CENTRE TOOLKIT
The Go For 2&5 Club & Centre Toolkit aims to support the growth and development of Clubs & Centres by outlining minimum requirements, best practice, and add-ons, in the form of policies and resources.
KIDSPORT VOUCHERS
KidSport enables eligible Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 years to participate in community sport by offering them financial assistance of up to $300 per financial year towards club fees.
Refunds
Athletes who wish to withdraw their registration and meet the criteria outlined in the Athletics West Refund Policy, may submit a Refund Request Form. The completed form must be sent via email to brayden@athleticswest.com.au to be processed.
Please note, Athletics West will not process refunds submitted directly from members. Please contact Athletics West on behalf of the member with the completed form to be processed.
If a refund is approved, you will be notified by Athletics West staff, and it will be processed back through the registration platform. The Refund Policy refers to the Athletics West portion of the registration fee only. Centres and Clubs should adopt their own refund policy to ensure consistency and transparency for their members.
Transfers
For transfers between Centres and/or Clubs, an Athlete Transfer Form should be completed by both the old and new Centres and/or Clubs and signed by the parent/guardian. The completed form then needs to be sent to Athletics West office for approval. Athletes transferring from one Centre to another have already paid the Association registration fee and do not have to pay again.
Details instructions on how to process a transfer can be found in the 2023/24 registrar handbook.
