The 2021 Australian Marathon Championships is open to all athletes who are registered with an Athletics Australia-affiliated club and meet the Athletics Australia rules for National competition. The first three eligible men and women to finish the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon will be presented with Australian Championship medals. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be also be presented in the men’s and women’s teams competition.

Athletics West can select up to six male and six female representatives for the WA State Team, with the top three finishers in each team scoring points towards their state team result. To express your interest in competing for the WA State Team, please click Nominate above and complete the form.

Athletes must have demonstrated proven ability to complete the marathon within the entry standard times below:
Women: 3:40:00
Men: 3:30:00
 

Athlete Assistance

The Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon will provide all athletes selected in their State or Territory team with the following:

• Free race entry
• Seeded (elite) race number (to allow all state team runners to start in the first group at the front of the field)
• Access to the elite athlete area in the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre pre- and post-race on Sunday 4 July
• Opportunity to have personal refreshments placed on course at any/each of the refreshment stations (eight in total approx. every 5km)

Additional Elite Athlete Assistance

Further elite athlete assistance may be available for athletes (sub 2:25 men and sub 2:50 women) who meet the criteria outlined here. The elite athlete assistance applications close at 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday 16 May, 2021 and should be made via the Elite Athletes application form here.
