The 2022 Western Australian Schools Cup (WA Schools Cup) is a new competition format aimed to encourage competition between secondary schools as part of the WA All Schools Championships.

This year, the WA Schools Cup competition will be the qualification event for Athletics West to nominate teams to the 2022 National Schools Challenge, set to be contested in Adelaide on Monday 12 December, following the Australian All Schools Championships on the 9-11 December. The WA Schools Cup replaces the Nitro Schools Challenge and former Schools Knockout formats, in line with the new National Schools Challenge event.

Whilst schools are not required to nominate for the WA Schools Cup, if the school would like their teams to be in contention for selection for the National Schools Challenge you must register your interest. NB: Nomination has now closed. Please email admin@athleticswest.com.au for any enquiries.

For each division as specified above, schools who have nominated for selection with the top two (2) point scores will be offered a position in the National Schools Challenge.

Schools will be selected for each division based on final point scores from the WA All Schools Championships. Schools are only eligible to enter teams for the National Schools Challenge in the divisions they have been selected. E.g. a school may have a Junior Girls and Intermediate Boys team selected and these are the only teams they can send to the National Schools Challenge.  

Schools with selected teams will be contacted by the 1 November 2022.
