The 2025 WA State Track & Field Championships powered by Fuel to Go & Play will be contested on Friday the 7th, Saturday the 8th and Sunday 9th of March 2025.

All athletes competing in the Championships must read and be familiar with the event rules and regulations as there are variations in the conduct of the event from the Little Athletics WA program and the weekly Strive program.

Entries close midnight Thursday 27 February 2025. Late entry portal will open by close of business Friday 28 February 2025 where spaces are available.

Entry: Open to all current Athletics West members (Little Athletics and Senior/Strive members) within the following age groups (see age groups below).

Qualification to enter: Athletes do not need to qualify to enter this event, so long as they are current members, of the appropriate age and for High Jump and Triple Jump, can meet the minimum starting heights/mat. See 'Age groups & event restrictions' heading for more information

Once you have submitted an entry, you will be unable to edit your registration through the entry portal. If you need to add additional events or change your registration, please contact the Athletics West office at admin@athleticswest.com.au prior to the entry closing date.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

These championships rely on volunteers to support Athletics West Technical Officials, who are volunteers, to deliver the championships efficiently and on time. As part of event registations, all participants are required to nominate a parent/guardian/athlete to fill one (1) volunteer roster position over the course of the State Championships weekend. Allocated shifts range from 75minutes- 3hours in duration, all help is welcomed and Officials will provide guidance for those new to volunteering.

Role Description

The final roster will reflect any competition timetable changes, when entries close.

Volunteers please sign in at the Technical Information Centre (TIC) located near the 100m start line at least 15 minutes prior to your allocated roster position.

AGE GROUPS & EVENT RESTRICTIONS

The birth date calculation is as at 31st December 2025, as per the details below. For example, athletes who are born 2012 are considered Under 14 athletes.

*Athletes are permitted to compete in an age group event and open categories, where minimum age requirements do not apply. Further information on entry eligibility will be provided in the Rules & Regulations for the event.

Please note the following entry rules (Refer to Rules & Regulations):

  • Athletes are not permitted to enter the Hammer Throw, Steeplechase or Pole Vault unless they have competed in these events prior
  • Athletes must be turning 14 years of age by the 31 December in the year of competition to compete in the 2000m or 3000m Steeplechase event
  • Athletes must be turning 15 years of age by the 31 December in the year of competition to compete in the 5000m or 10,000m Race Walk
  • An athlete can compete in only ONE UNDERAGE GROUP PLUS OPEN, for each event/discipline, if the timetable permits. They may change age groups for different events but not for the same/similar events (e.g. 80mH/90mH/100mH; 200m/400m Hurdles, 3000m/5000m Walk). For example, an athlete cannot enter the Under 18 Long Jump and the Under 20 Long Jump, but could contest the Under 20 and Open Long Jump where the timetable permits.

PARA EVENTS

Para events are conducted as multi-class events, using the Athletics Australia baseline scoring system with each age group (Under 15, Under 17, Under 20 and Open). Para athletes must have a State level classification to compete.

Events have been scheduled within the Draft Timetable with all age groups together, but dependent on athlete entry numbers, age groups may be run within one race/event or with the relevant able-bodied athlete age groups.

Athletes will have the opportunity to specify their discipline (ambulant or seated/wheelchair) on entry.

CLOSED EVENTS & LATE ENTRIES

Late entries are permitted only where a position is available and will close ONE (1) HOUR prior to the published event start time. Late entries will incur a late entry fee of $40 per event, in addition to the $10 Championship entry fee, if not previously paid.  

Late entries are subject to availability and will not be accepted for events where no entries were received online prior to entries closing.

WARM UP

Athlete warm-up will occur outside of the competition arena, in surrounding warm-up venues (McGillivray Oval, UWA Sports Park). There will be limited starting blocks and hurdles available. 

ARRIVING FOR YOUR EVENT: CALL ROOM  

Athletes must report to the Call Room at the CALL ROOM ENTRY time listed below.

Where an athlete fails to report to the call room prior to the last athlete crossing the Call Room departure line, then the athlete shall not be permitted to join the event - view the Rules & Regulations for further information.

EVENT CLASHES

If an athlete is already or likely to be competing in another event at the designated call time the athlete or someone on his/her behalf must notify the Call Room by submitting the Clash of Events form to the Call Room Officials prior to the designated call time of the second event. It MAY be possible for the competitor to compete in the second event as well, however a trial (jump or throw) can only be held during its designated round. Track will always take precedence over field events.

IMPLEMENTS

IMPLEMENT CHECK IN: A reminder that personal implements must be submitted to Technical at a minimum of one hour prior to the event start.

Javelin - We encourage athletes participating in javelin to submit implements at least 90 minutes prior to the event to ensure sufficient time for multiple submissions. Athletes should also ensure javelin implements are not covered in dirt prior to check in.

Discus – Athletics Australia have provided a directive from the national Technical Committee that relates to the last paragraph of TR34.1, where by manufacturer stickers and stickers put on implements in the past by Technical Judges should be removed. If you are submitting a personal implement into the competition, please note as a national permit meet, this will be implemented. Athletics Australia have advised the same protocol will be in place for Athletics Australia Tour Meets and the Australian Championships.


WORLD ATHLETICS SHOE RULE

Athletics West will be enforcing and conducting the event under World Athletics rules for Under 20 and Open events. All athletes will be required to complete the online Shoe Declaration Form prior to competing and all shoes can be checked using World Athletics Shoe Check Tool.

BIBS & UNIFORM

All athletes entered in the Championships must wear their approved Senior Club or Little Athletics Centre Uniform or Athletics West Independent Uniform as per their entry. For dual members, athletes must wear the uniform of the Club, Centre or Independent membership they have nominated for at entry and wear this uniform for all events.

All athletes will receive two (2) competition bibs specific for this event. Bibs can be collected on the day at the TIC (Athletics West tent). When collecting on the day, please allow at least 20 minutes for collection.

WA STATE TEAM SELECTION

This event is a qualification event for 2025 Australian Athletics Championships. Qualification and State Team information for the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships can be found here

Athletes who meet the qualification criteria for the Australian Athletics Championships (4-8 April; 10-13 April 2025) are eligible to be part of the WA State Team. Entry Portal

  1. Meet entry standards set by Athletics Australia OR
  2. Entry via placing at Championships- 1st, 2nd or 3rd at 2025 WA State Track & Field Championships (or WA Combined Event Championships- 1-2 February 2025) OR
  3. Entry via placing at Championships- 1st, 2nd, 3rd at 2024 WA All Schools Championships (1-3 November 2024)

STATE TEAM UNIFORM | Purchase Valour state team uniform online now for the Australian Athletics Championships as it isn't included in your team levy (ensure min. 2.5 weeks delivery time to your house). Compulsory items are Valour competition top and competition bottoms. Sample sizes for competition top will be available during WA State Championship weekend.
 

PARKING INFORMATION

Parking Map

The above map shows the area that will be restrictecd to only Athletics West staff, Volunteer Officials, and VIP's. Parking attendants will be present for parts of each day to direct traffic and help you park. We recommend using the HBF Stadium parking Carpark 1 and Carpark 2 (southern end of the map).

EVENT SHIRT

The 2025 State Track and Field Event Shirt will be available for purchase online from Thursday the 30th of January at 4:00pm! 

The event shirt for this event will be purchased directly through the Valour online shop and delivered to your home prior to the event. As sizes and stock are limited, we strongly urge you to purchase a shirt online as soon as possible to avoid missing out. 

There will be NO returns or size swapping available. Merchandise updates will be shared through the Athletics West social media channels.
