Level 1 Community Athletics Coach.

The Level 1 CAC course is accredited by the Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) National Accreditation Scheme (NCAS). Upon completion of the course, participants will become NCAS accredited athletics coaches with a universally recognised qualification by all nationwide athletics bodies.

This course is the entry level of the Athletics Australia’s Coach Accreditation Framework.

The course is designed to:-

 Develop the general principles of coaching: communication, group management, safety, organisation & instruction.
 Provide practical coaching strategies to develop the fundamental skills of running, jumping & throwing in a fun and safe environment.

Participants will receive:-

 Athletics Australia Coach Accreditation.
 Membership with Athletics Australia and Athletics WA.
Insurance under the Athletics Australia umbrella policy for their coaching practice.
 Resource folder and coaching videos.

All participants are required to complete an online module prior to commencing the one day course. The link for the Beginning Coach General Principles is athletics.com.au/1WK4MNL where you can enroll in the online learning portal.



The fundamental skills of running, jumping & throwing are introduced as well as exploring how to engage athletes in long term participation and how to coach the skills to beginner athletes. The Course is designed for those coaches who have athletes from 8-12 years. It is an introduction to athletics and does not contain in depth technical information required for coaching senior athletes.

Venue: WA Athletics Stadium, Stephenson Ave, Mt Claremont.
It is a one day course 8.30am-5pm. 

If you require a more advanced course or if you are a Physical Education teacher you should contact the office on info@waathletics.org.au to discuss the Level 2 course and the possibility of Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).

The course involves participation in a number of activities so come prepared to actively participate in the program and dress appropriately for physical activity. You should also bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hat and lunch.

Assessment for the course will include small groups of participants devising and implementing running, jumping or throwing activities suitable for young athletes. 

Participants minimum age requirement is 16 years.

The $230 cost of the course includes the course material (emailed out to particpants in the registration receipt), morning & afternoon tea and one year accreditation with Athletics Australia & must be paid prior to attending the course.
