ACCESS ATHLETICS | INTRO TO FRAME RUNNING & WHEELCHAIR RACING

Athletics West is proud to introduce Access Athletics, a new multifaceted program to enhance and support inclusive practices and participation in athletics for people with a disability in Western Australia.
As part of the program, Access Athletics will host a series of come-and-try days and specialised clinics to introduce athletes to different disciplines within the sport.
The first two programs of Access Athletics are Introduction to Frame Running and Introduction to Wheelchair Racing, and both are NOW OPEN for REGISTRATION!
INTRODUCTION TO FRAME RUNNING
The introduction to Frame Running program will provide unique opportunity for participants to get sized up for a running frame, learn how to run using the frame, and take part in activities all in a fun, supportive environment.
Sessions will be delivered by experience physiotherapists and accredited Athletics Coaches. Parent involvement and support is recommended.
When: Mondays from 24th February – 24th March
*excluding Public Holiday on Monday 3rd March*
Where: WA Athletics Stadium, Mt Claremont
Cost: $60 per participant for four sessions + WA Stadium entry fee
Stadium entry is $8.60 for an adult or $4.30 for a senior & student concession
This program is available for any person aged 8 and above and suitable for those with Cerebral palsy GMFCS levels II-IV, or any disability where participant needs assistance to walk or run.

INTRODUCTION TO WHEELCHAIR RACING
The introduction to Wheelchair Racing program will provide a unique opportunity for participants to try Wheelchair Racing and take part in activities all in a fun, supportive environment.
Sessions will be delivered by an experienced and accredited Wheelchair Racing Coach. Parent involvement and support in the program is encouraged.
When: Mondays from 24th February – 24th March
*excluding Public Holiday on Monday 3rd March*
Where: WA Athletics Stadium, Mt Claremont
Cost: $60 per participant for four sessions + WA Stadium entry fee
Stadium entry is $8.60 for an adult or $4.30 for a senior & student concession
This program is available to those 6 years and above, and suitable for athletes with a wide range of impairments including but not limited to those with a spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida or amputation.
