EVENT PREVIEW | 2024 NORTH WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS

Karratha will be the place to be this weekend as the 2024 North West Athletics Championships return to the country town for an action-packed weekend of athletics competition.  

More than 200 athletes, parents and spectators from the North West region are expected to descend on Butler Reserve over the weekend. The competition is an exciting opportunity for athletes of all ages to travel to the tropical city in the hopes of claiming a gold medal and improving their personal bests 

CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION 

The 2024 North West Championships are open to all participants, and you do not need to be a member to participate, however only North West registered athletes will be eligible to receive a medal.  

Athletics West are proud to deliver the 2024 North West Athletics Championships with Karratha Little Athletics Centre, City of Karratha, Athletics Australia and the Athletics for the Outback program, Healthway and their Go For 2&5 message, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Kumon, and the Bibbulmun Fund powered by Fremantle Foundation.  

COMMUNITY COME & TRY INFORMATION 

The North West Athletics Championships will offer a Community Come and Try Session on Friday the 20th of September from 4:45pm led by Australian athletes Jack Whiteside and Alexander Griffin with Athletics Australia’s First Nations Office Kyle Ennis, followed by a meet and greet at 5:45pm.  

COACHING COURSE INFORMATION 

The Championships will also offer a FREE Level 1 Youth Coaching Course designed for those who want to work with athletes aged 3-12 years old. The course will be held on Saturday the 21st of September from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
