LAUREL WREATH ANNOUNCEMENT 2024-25 SEASON

Published Tue 15 Oct 2024

Athletics West is excited to announce the Laurel Wreath recipients for the 2024-25 Athletics Season powered by Go For 2&5.

Awarded to WA’s top athletes in recognition of their national and international performances, this year’s recipients represent a champion class featuring an Olympic and Paralympic medallist, Paris 2024 finalists, and the state’s World Under 20 Championship contingent.

This year's Laurel Wreath recipients also represent 24 new Australian records, and 23 State records, demonstrating the remarkable athletics talent on display here in Western Australia.

2024 Olympic Pole Vault gold medallist Nina Kennedy was awarded top honours after a spectacular international season, cementing her position as one of the all-time Australian Pole Vault Greats. The WA Pole Vault prodigy had a year like no other, claiming eight consecutive wins on the international stage while adding a second Diamond League Final Trophy to her collection

Madison de Rozario has been awarded number two after another inspiring display at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The Australian five-time Paralympian added two new Paralympic medals to her silverware collection claiming silver in the T54 Marathon and a bronze in the T54 5000m event.

Another stand out season for UWA’s Rhiannon Clarke means the T38 Sprinter will be awarded number three for the 2024/25 Athletics season. Clarke produced a slew of impressive performances in Paris at the 2024 Paralympic Games, breaking her own T38 400m and 100m records twice each at the games. The para-athlete delivered a fourth-place finish in the T38 100m final and fifth in the T38 400m final in Paris alongside seven Australian records throughout 2024, to secure number three in this year’s Laurel Wreath honours.

Fellow Paralympian Jackson Hamilton has been awarded number four, while Paris athletes Kurtis Marschall, Sarah Edmiston, Declan Tingay, Alanah Yukich, Ella Pardy and Peter Bol round out the top ten.
