Whether you are new to coaching or officiating, looking to gain accreditation or simply interested in finding out more about the pathway, Athletics West is excited to help level up your skills in 2024.

Athletics is supported by a range of volunteer, club and high-performance coaches across the state. To enable the continued development of athletics in WA, Athletics West is committed to providing a range of coaching education opportunities.
COACH DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN 2024
COACH UPSKILLING
The coach upskilling courses are designed to provide upskilling across a range of athletics events for parents or volunteers, as an introduction to athletics events and provide general knowledge and skills across a range of events. These sessions are ideal for clubs with parent volunteers looking to assist with club training or schools wanting an upskilling session ahead of the carnival season.

COACHING ACCREDITATION COURSES
Athletics West provide accredited coaching courses through our affiliation with Athletics Australia. All accredited courses are approved by the Australian Sports Commission's National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. The Athletics Coach Accreditation Framework is designed to progressively introduce the coaching skills required to develop athletes from beginner to elite.

To enable the continued development of athletics and athletics officials in WA, Athletics West is committed to continuously providing upskilling and education opportunities for athletics officials.

OFFICIALS UPSKILLING
These sessions are fun and engaging sessions designed for parents and volunteers looking to lend a hand at Little Athletics WA and Strive programs. The officials upskilling sessions are a perfect way to learn a new officiating role, refresh your officiating knowledge and ensure you have confidence when officiating at your net event!

OFFICIALS EDUCATION
For those looking to take the next step in their officiating careers, there are several pathways and education opportunities available. In partnership with the WA Athletics Officials Club, Athletics West offers a range of educational opportunities for volunteers.
WORLD ATHLETICS E-LEARNING
The World Athletics E-Learning platform, hosted by the World Athletics website, provides educational courses and webinars for those with a general interest in athletics, such as school teachers and club volunteers, as well as key stakeholder groups, including Member Federations, technical officials, coaches and medical professionals.
The initial courses available include those for budding technical officials, organisers of athletics at club and community level and anyone who wants to know more about the rules of the sport.
