PARDY’S PATH TO THREE TIME PARALYMPIAN

Published Thu 22 Aug 2024

Ella Pardy will add three-time Paralympian to her sparkling career when she lines up for the 100m in the City of Lights at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Pardy (Danny Kevan, UWA Athletics) has been a stalwart of the Australian Para Athletics team for more than a decade, proudly representing her country across the globe.

Getting a taste for the podium in 2007, Pardy won gold in the 100m when she debuted for Australia at the Special Olympics in Shanghai World Games at only 16 years of age. Her performance was a clear indication that Pardy was embarking on a long and fruitful athletics career

Originally selected for her prowess in the field, Pardy began her Athletics Australia representation when she was selected for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games for long jump, placing nineth. The next year she returned to the track and the global stage to contest the 100m and 200m at the 2015 World Para Athletics Championships in Doha, just missing the podium and placing fifth in both.

In 2016 Pardy’s dream to become a Paralympian came true when she was selected for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Team for the T38 100m and as a member of the Women’s 4x100m relay team

Making the most of her Paralympic debut, Pardy placed sixth in the T38 100m and won a bronze medal as part of the 4x100m relay team, remaining her best sporting moment yet.

Since then, Pardy has continued to focus on the track and deliver sensational results in the green and gold. At her second World Championships in 2017 she placed fifth in the T38 100m, and fourth in the T38 100m on home soil at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

12 months later she backed it up with sixth at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, before being selected for her second Paralympic Games in 2020. The Paralympic bronze medalist faced a tough field in the T38 100m at the Tokyo Paralympics and placed seventh in the final

Pardy placed fifth at her third Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022 before setting off to Paris in 2023 for her fifth World Para Athletics Championships where she claimed sixth in the T38 100m.

Returning to Paris for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Pardy will line up on the start line of Stade de France for her 10th time donning the green and gold.

The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games are set to take place from the 29th of Augustto the8thof September, with the athletics action getting underway from the 30th.
