Weekend Wrap: Australian Cross Country Championships and Chevron City to Surf

It was a busy weekend for WA athletes across the country, competing in the 2019 Australian Cross Country Championships and the Chevron City to Surf.
AUSTRALIAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Australian Cross Country Championships were held at Kembla Grange (NSW) and proved to be a tough course.
In the Under 18 Boys 6km, Brandon Ford was a standout performance, finishing 6th in 18:50. Jaco Jansen van Rensburg had a great race, finishing 9th in 19:08. WA claimed the bronze medal for the team performance in the Under 18 Boys 6km, thanks to; Brandon Ford, Jaco Jansen van Rensburg, Cameron Quirk, Sam Holroyd, Ethan Wyatt-Smith and Tom Ferreira.
Another standout performance was Vanessa Miller in the Under 18 Girls 4km, placing 9th in 14:29.
CHEVRON CITY TO SURF
There were some outstanding performances at the Chevron City to Surf where thousands of runners hit the pavement in the 4km, 12km, Half Marathon and Marathon events.
Luke Graves went back-to-back in the 4km, winning in an impressive time of 11:11.75. Mj Jansen van Rensburg and Luke Burrows placed second and third respectively. Kayla van der Linden won the Women’s 4km in a time of 14:26.16, followed by Sarah Hynes and Ellie Glands.
Ben Chamberlain had an great race, winning in the 12km event, with a time of 36.57.60 Keely Waters also had an impressive race, winning the Women’s 12km in a new personal best of 46:46.27.
In the Half Marathon, William Chebon won in a very close finish against Nic Harman, finishing 1:04.42 and 1:04.44 respectively. In the Women’s event, Nera Jareb dominated the field finishing in a time of 1:16.57.
